\r\nDespite a string of record-high daily infection numbers, the hospital system is not under undue pressure. It is therefore deemed appropriate to implement a gradual phasing out of the COVID-19 restrictions.
\r\nLooking forward, we should start regarding COVID-19 as a natural part of our daily lives, as we do with other illnesses. In the same way as with the common flu or colds, each one of us is individually responsible for whether we wish to expose ourselves to the risk of COVID-19 infection.

\r\nIf you have tested positive, you are recommended to quarantine. This means:
\r\nIf you have symptoms:
\r\nMost people infected with COVID-19 only experience mild symptoms that last for a short time. If you develop severe symptoms, it is recommended that you contact a doctor.
\r\nIf you do not have symptoms:
\r\nChildren:
\r\nChildren who test positive for COVID-19 should follow the same quarantine guidelines as adults and should stay at home until they are no longer contagious.
\r\nSince children have a greater need than adults for comfort and care, a hug may be more important than physical distance. To minimise close contact between the infected child and others in the household, it is recommended that, to the extent possible, only parents or other caregivers who look after the child have close physical contact with the child.
\r\nThe quarantine period can be difficult for adults and children alike, and quarantined people are advised to live as normally as possible during this period. Adults are advised to help their children maintain contacts with their friends in a safe manner.
\r\nFor people who have been directly exposed to an infected person, a distinction is made between close contacts and other contacts.
\r\nClose contacts
\r\nYou are considered a close contact if you have been exposed to an infected person less than 48 hours prior to the person testing positive for COVID-19 or developing symptoms, and if one of the following scenarios apply to you:
\r\nRecommendations for close contacts:
\r\nOther contacts
\r\nYou are classified in the ’other contacts’ category if you have been exposed to an infected person less than 48 hours prior to the person testing positive for COVID-19 or developing symptoms, and if the scenarios for ‘close contacts’ do not apply to you. Examples of ‘other contacts’ include:
\r\nRecommendations for other contacts:
\r\nPractice caution be alert for possible symptoms and get tested if you notice any symptoms.
\r\nContacts who have had COVID-19 within the past 6 weeks:
\r\nYou should not take a new test if you have recently been exposed to an infected person. The reason for this is that test results may come out positive weeks after recovering from COVID-19.
\r\nIf you do not feel any symptoms, you are not required to quarantine, even if you share a house with an infected person.
\r\nIf you feel symptoms, you are recommended to quarantine until you have been symptom-free for 48 hours.
\r\n\r\n
Those who test positive receive an email containing information on what to do, how to identify their ‘close contacts’ and ‘other contacts’ and instructions for these contacts.
\r\nThe new guidelines have been implemented.

\r\nEveryone is advised to follow the public health guidelines regarding social distancing and good hygiene.

\r\nA change has been made in the registration of the corona statistics. The number of inpatients will in the future show the number of people admitted because of corona. And therefore, the number of people who are hospitalized for other reasons, are not included in the corona statistics for the Faroe Islands.
