Hospitals to vaccinate children

The plan to have GPs administer COVID-19 vaccines to children aged 5-11 did not come through. This means that the hospital service will vaccinate this age group.

Shortly before Christmas, the Minister of Health decided to offer free vaccines for children aged 5 to 11.

However, due to practical complications, it was not possible to transfer these vaccinations to GPs as planned. It has therefore been decided that the hospital service will vaccinate this age group.

Preparations are underway, and details on how child vaccinations will be carried out will be announced soon.

In August, Faroese children aged 12-15 were offered free vaccines, and 73 percent of this age group have already received the first shot and 67 percent the second.
