Guidelines for travellers on yachts and pleasure crafts

Everyone coming to the Faroe Islands from overseas is required to be tested upon arrival for COVID-19, regardless of nationality or residence. Entry into the Faroe Islands without being tested is in contravention of the Faroese Epidemics Act and may carry fine or imprisonment.

Passengers on yachts and pleasure crafts can book a COVID-19 test with the company Thetis on coronatest.fo. The tests are free of charge for travellers to the Faroe Islands.

Tests are carried out from 08:00–12:00 on weekdays. Thetis is located on Hoyvíks vegur 51 in Torshavn and can be
reached on tel. (+298) 79 18 04 from 08:00–18:00. Be sure to mention that you just arrived with a pleasure craft.

To drive to Thetis, please call a taxi on tel. (+298) 32 32 32 or (+298) 31 12 34 and ask for corona-safe transport. The transport is not free of charge and travellers are responsible for the transport to and from Thetis.

Please self-quarantine on the boat until your test result is available.

If you are travelling from a banned country usually a country other than EU and Schengen countries and the UK, you must go into self quarantine for 14 days. See the list of open and banned countries here

Please note, that seafarers from countries with visa obligation do not have a right of shore leave during stay in Faroese ports unless they have aquired a visa for the Faroe Islands.

If you have symptoms, it is very important that you are tested.

If you have symptoms, you should call:

  • The Corona hotline on tel. +298 30 40 40. Monday-Thursday from 10:00–15:00
  • A GP during consultation hours from 08:00-16:00 on weekdays.
  • The after-hours GP service on 1870 from 16:00–08:00, as well as weekends and public holidays.

The Faroe Islands have successfully reduced the spread of COVID-19, and we wish to keep it that way. Our society is small and vulnerable. It is therefore crucial that we continue to take the greatest possible care to prevent the spread of infection.
